Being consistent is good, staying consistent is hard.
You see the same thing every New Years. People set out with their New Years resolutions and within 2 weeks….a month they have already fallen off the wagon. Here is the hard truth, it is hard to stay consistent. If it were easy everyone would do it. Gary Vaynerchuk is famous for asking the question…”how long have you been doing this?” They usually answer 3-6 months and he laughs. Gary explains people only see the tip of the icebergs, not the countless years of consistency that has lead to his or her improvements/success. There is no such thing as an overnight success if you peel back the layers.
Similar to what happens to people in their fitness journeys, they complain its hard, or they aren’t seeing immediate results. Correct, it takes time. It is like compounding interest though, once you have created the habits it becomes apart of your routine and the results become exponential. No longer is it a “should I?” or “do I want to?” you just start doing it everyday.
Here is the truth its going to be hard. There will be ups and downs, but the beauty is in the breakthroughs.
A simple formula for making that serious change in your life isn’t addition its subtraction. The biggest fault most people have is they try and add add add. They should be subtracting. Try and eliminate things that are not providing you value/not moving you towards your goals.
Don’t be like most people! Do not fall off. When things get hard make minor adjustments, reevaluate the plan, but do not stop showing up. Much Love, Colin Masterson #Jetlife
